IMVSO Manufacturer Verification Standard

A structured framework defining how manufacturer status is determined for informational verification purposes.

The IMVSO Manufacturer Verification Standard defines a consistent reference framework for assessing whether a company qualifies as a manufacturer, as distinct from a trader, intermediary, or non-manufacturing entity.

This Standard supports transparency in global trade by establishing clear conditions under which manufacturer status may be verified.

1. Scope of the Standard

The IMVSO Standard applies solely to manufacturer identity verification. It does not address product quality, safety, regulatory compliance, environmental performance, or management systems.

2. Standard and Criteria

IMVSO defines the Standard at a framework level. The Standard is implemented through specific verification criteria that describe the minimum conditions required to support a determination of manufacturer status.

3. Core Verification Criteria

3.1 Legal Entity Identity

  • Existence of a legally registered business entity
  • Consistency of registration details and jurisdiction

3.2 Manufacturing Existence

  • Evidence of owned, leased, or controlled manufacturing facilities
  • Physical presence associated with production activity

3.3 Operational Role

  • Demonstrated role in manufacturing rather than pure trading
  • Control or responsibility for production output

3.4 Evidence Consistency

  • Alignment between submitted information and public records
  • No material contradictions affecting manufacturer classification

4. Verification Process

Verification is performed by assessing available information against the defined criteria. Verification may be conducted by IMVSO or by independent third parties applying IMVSO criteria.

5. Nature of Verification

Verification under the IMVSO Standard is informational in nature and reflects an assessment at a specific point in time.

Important Notice
Verification under the IMVSO Manufacturer Verification Standard does not constitute certification, accreditation, endorsement, or guarantee of product quality, regulatory compliance, or business performance.
